%X Rapidprogressininformationtechnologyhascometoenableustostorealltheinformationinahospitalinformationsystem,includingmanagementdata,patientrecords,dischargesummaryandlaboratorydata.Althoughthereuseofthosedatahasnotstarted,ithasbeenexpectedthatthestoreddatawillcontributetoanalysisofhospitalmanagement.Inthispaper,thedischargesummaryofChibaUniversityHospital,whichhasbeenstoredsince1980’swereanalyzedtocharacterizetheuniversityhospital.Theresultsshowseveralinterestingresults,whichsuggeststhatthereuseofstoreddatawillgiveapowerfultooltosupportalongperiodmanagementofauniversityhospital.
