%0 Journal Article %T AdaptationtovisualstimulationmodifiestheburstfiringpropertyofV1neurons %A Rui-Long LIU %A Ke WANG %A Jian-Jun MENG %A Tian-Miao HUA %A Zhen LIANG %A Min-Min XI %J 动物学研究 %D 2013 %R 10.11813/j.issn.0254-5853.2013.E3.E101 %X Themeanfiringrateofvisualcorticalneuronsisreducedafterprolongedvisualstimulation,buttheunderlyingprocessbywhichthisoccursaswellasthebiologicalsignificanceofthisphenomenonremainsunknown.Computationalneurosciencestudiesindicatethathigh-frequencyburstsinstimulus-drivenresponsescanbetransmittedacrosssynapsesmorereliablythanisolatedspikes,andthusmaycarryaccuratestimulus-relatedinformation.OurresearchexaminedwhetherornotadaptationaffectstheburstfiringpropertyofvisualcorticalneuronsbyexaminingchangesintheburstfiringchangesofV1neuronsduringadaptationtothepreferredvisualstimulus.Theresultsshowthatadaptationtoprolongedvisualstimulationsignificantlydecreasedburstfrequency(bursts/s)andburstlength(spikes/burst),butincreasedburstdurationandtheinterspikeintervalwithinbursts.TheseresultssuggestthattheadaptationofV1neuronstovisualstimulationmayresultinadecreaseoffeedforwardresponsegainbutanincreaseoffunctionalactivitiesfromlateraland/orfeedbackconnections,whichcouldleadtoareductionintheeffectivenessofadaptedneuronsintransmittinginformationtoitsdrivenneurons. %K Visualadaptation %K Burstfiring %K Neurons %K Primaryvisualcortex %K Cat %U http://www.zoores.ac.cn/CN/abstract/abstract3351.shtml
