%0 Journal Article %T EffectsoftemperatureacclimationonbodymassandenergybudgetintheChinesebulbulPycnonotussinensis %A Yu-Nan WU %A Lin Lin %A Yu-Chao XIAO %A Li-Meng Zhou %A Meng-Si WU %A Hui-Ying Zhang %A Jin-Song LIU %J 动物学研究 %P 33-41 %D 2014 %R 10.11813/j.issn.0254-5853.2014.1.033 %X Chinesebulbuls(Pycnonotussinensis)aresmallpasserinebirdsthatinhabitareasofcentral,southernandeasternChina.Previousobservationssuggestthatfree-livingindividualsofthisspeciesmaychangetheirfoodintakeinresponsetoseasonalchangesinambienttemperature.Inthepresentstudy,werandomlyassignedChinesebulbulstoeithera30℃or10℃group,andmeasuredtheirbodymass(BM),bodytemperature,grossenergyintake(GEI),digestibleenergyintake(DEI),andthelengthandmassoftheirdigestivetractsover28daysofacclimationatthesetemperatures.Aspredicted,birdsinthe30℃grouphadlowerbodymass,GEIandDEIrelativetothoseinthe10℃group.Thelengthandmassofthedigestivetractwasalsolowerinthe30℃groupandtrendsintheseparameterswerepositivelycorrelatedwithBM,GEIandDEI.TheseresultssuggestthatChinesebulbulsreducedtheirabsoluteenergydemandsatrelativelyhightemperaturesbydecreasingtheirbodymass,GEIandDEI,anddigestivetractsize. %K Bodymass %K Energybudget %K Pycnonotussinensis %K Temperatureacclimation %U http://www.zoores.ac.cn/CN/abstract/abstract3427.shtml
