%X Non-humanprimatesoftenliveinsociallystablegroupscharacterizedbybondedrelationshipsamongindividuals.Socialorganizationcanbeusedtoevaluatelivingconditionsandexpansionpotential.Bisexualgroupsize,ratioofmalestofemalesandgroupcompositionareessentialelementsdeterminingthetypeofsocialorganization.AlthoughthefirstreportonShortridge'scappedlangurs(Trachypithecusshortridgei)wasinthe1970s,untilnow,thespeciesonlyinhabitsforestsoftheDulongjiangvalleyinnorthwestYunnan,China,withc.250-370individualsin19populations.Tounderstanditssocialorganization,wecollecteddatafromfivegroupsofShortridge'slangursatSilaluointheDulongjiangvalleyduringAugust2012-October2013.Familygroupsconsistofoneadultmale,2–3adultfemalesanduptofiveyoung.Groupsizeaveraged8(7-9)individuals.Theratioofadultmalestofemales(M/F)was1:2.9,infantstoadultfemaleswas(I/F)1:2.2;andratioofadultstoimmatureswas1:1.2,indicatingthepotentialofapopulationincreasing.BirthseasonwasduringMarch-Julyandtheinter-birthintervalwastwoyears.
