%0 Journal Article %T Aselectivewaytocreatedefectsbythethermaltreatmentoffluorinateddoublewalledcarbonnanotubes %A Hiroyuki Muramatsu %A Kazunori Fujisawa %A Yong-Il Ko %A Kap-Seung Yang %A Takuya Hayashi %A Morinobu Endo %A Cheol-Min Yang %A Yong Chae Jung %A Yoong Ahm Kim %J ´ß»¯Ñ§±¨ %P 864-868 %D 2014 %R 10.1016/S1872-2067(14)60107-8 %X £¿Nanoscaledefectsintheoutertubetopreservetheelectricalandopticalfeaturesoftheinnertubecanbeengineeredtoexploittheintrinsicpropertiesofdoublewalledcarbonnanotubes(DWCNTs)forvariouspromisingapplications.WedemonstratedaselectivewaytomakedefectsintheoutertubebythefluorinationofDWCNTsfollowedbythethermaldetachmentoftheFatomsat1000¡æinargon.FluorinatedDWCNTswithdifferentamountsofFatomswerepreparedbyreactingwithfluorinegasat25,200,and400¡æthatgavethestoichiometryofCF0.20,CF0.30,andCF0.43,respectively.Atthethreedifferenttemperaturesused,weobservedpreservationofthecoaxialmorphologyinthefluorinatedDWCNTs.FortheDWCNTsfluorinatedat25and200¡æ,thestrongradialbreathingmodes(RBMs)oftheinnertubeandweakenedRBMsoftheoutertubeindicatedselectivefluorineattachmentontotheoutertube.However,thedisappearanceoftheRBMsintheRamanspectrumoftheDWCNTsfluorinatedat400¡æshowedtheintroductionofFatomsontobothinnerandoutertubes.TherewasnosignificantchangeinthemorphologyandopticalpropertieswhentheDWCNTsfluorinatedat25and200¡æwerethermallytreatedat1000¡æinargon.However,inthecaseoftheDWCNTsfluorinatedat400¡æ,therecoveryofstrongRBMsfromtheinnertubeandweakenedRBMsfromtheoutertubeindicatedtheselectiveintroductionofsubstantialdefectsontheoutertubewhilepreservingtheoriginaltubularshape.ThethermaldetachmentofFatomsfromfluorinatedDWCNTsisanefficientwaytomakehighlydefectiveoutertubesforpreservingtheelectricalconductionandopticalactivityoftheinnertubes. %K Doublewalledcarbonnanotube %K Fluorination %K De-fluorination %K Defectengineering %K Ramanspectroscopy %U http://www.chxb.cn/CN/abstract/abstract21335.shtml
