%X Dearcolleaguesandfriends,ª¤ª¥Onbehalfoftheorganizingcommittee,Iwouldliketoinviteyoutoparticipateinthe11thInternationalConferenceonMagneticResonanceMicroscopy(ICMRM),August14~18,Changping,Beijing,China.ª¥The11thICMRMwillfollowthefinetraditionthathasbeenestablishedin1991startingwiththeveryfirstICMRMinHeidelberg.TheconferencewillbedevotedtothelatestdevelopmentsinNMRmethods,equipment,andapplicationsofspatiallyresolvedNMRtechniques;itisalsodesignedtoprovideaplatformtoenhancescientificcommunicationbetweenindustryandacademia,andbetweenresearchersfromcountriesspanningtheglobe.ª¥Wehavereceivedmorethan130abstractsfrommanyofthefineNMRlaboratoriesworldwide,andalsoinvited22renownedscientiststogivepresentationsonvariousaspectsofNMR,includingSirPaulCallaghan,Prof.WarrenS.Warren,Prof.AxelHaase,Prof.EiichiFukushima,Prof.BernhardBlumichandProf.BruceBalcom.Inaddition,morethan20organizations,includingCNPC,Shell,Niumag,Huanding,Bruker,Agilent,OxfordInstruments,JSR,andK.C.WongEducationFoundation,HongKong,etc.haveagreedtoprovidefinancialsupporttothisconference.WesincerelyappreciatethegenerousdonationsfromourindustryfriendsandtheenthusiasticassistancefromtheChinaUniversityofPetroleum(CUP)andotherChineseresearchinstitutes.Wewouldalsoliketothankinadvanceallthedelegatesandexhibitorsfortheirinterestinpresentingtheirhighª²qualitywork.Webelievethatallourattendeeswillgreatlybenefitfromthisconference.ª¥We,thefacultyandgraduatestudentsfromCUP,arehonoredtoorganizethe11thICMRM.£¿CUPspecializesinpetroleumª²relatedresearchesandeducationandisoneofthebestindustry-orienteduniversitiesinChina.NMRiswidelyusedforpetroleumandnaturalgasexplorationandrecoveryinwelllogging,andincoreanalysistomeasurerockporosityandpermeability,ortoidentifyporefluids.WearedelightedtoincorporatecontributionsfromtheSocietyofCoreAnalystsandhavecreatedaJointTopicConferenceonNMRinWellLoggingandCoreAnalysis,andwillspeciallyfocusonunconventionaloilandgascoreanalysis.ª¥Thisyear,ICMRMwillforthefirsttimebeheldinChina.Inadditiontothescientificprogram,wehopeyouwillenjoyyourtriptoBeijingandChina.Chinesecivilizationhasenduredandprosperedforthousandsofyears,andBeijinghasbeenthecapitalcityfornearly900years.Itisacityofbotholdandyoungatsametime.Youngwithinexhaustibleenergyandanopenattitudefornewdevelopments,itisoneofthegreatestcitiesintheworld.WehavearrangedawonderfulexcursiontoshowyoutheoldandtheyoungfacesofBeijingonthisspecialoccasion.ª¥Toconcludethiswelcomenote,IwouldliketoquoteConfucius,afamousChinesephilosopher,¡°Howhappywearetohavefriendsfromafar!¡±£¿WelookforwardtowelcomingyoutoBeijingthisAugust.Formoreinformation,pleasecheckathttp:¡Îicmrm11.c
