%X ？Inthispaper,H∞optimalmodelreductionforsingularfastsubsystemswillbeinvestigated.First,errorsystemisestablishedtomeasuretheerrormagnitudebetweentheoriginalandreducedsystems,anditisdemonstratedthatthenewfeatureformodelreductionofsingularsystemsistomakeH_normoftheerrorsystemfiniteandminimal.ThenecessaryandsufficientconditionisderivedfortheexistenceoftheH∞suboptimalmodelreductionproblem.Next,wegiveanexactandpracticablealgorithmtogettheparametersofthereducedsubsystemsbyapplyingthematrixtheory.Meanwhile,thereducedsystemmaybealsoimpulsive.Theadvantagesoftheproposedalgorithmarethatitismoreflexibleinastraight-forwardwaywithoutmuchextracomputation,andtheorderofthereducedsystemsisasminimalaspossible.Finally,oneillustrativeexampleisgiventoillustratetheeffectivenessoftheproposedmodelreductionapproach.
