%X ？Inthispaper,weaddressthedemandingtaskofdevelopingintelligentsystemsequippedwithmachinecreativitythatcanperformdesigntasksautomatically.Themainchallengeishowtomodelhumanbeings'creativitymathematicallyandmimicsuchcreativitycomputationally.Weproposea``synthesisreasoningmodel"astheunderlyingmechanismtosimulatehumanbeings'creativethinkingwhentheyarehandlingdesigntasks.Wepresentthetheoryofthesynthesisreasoningmodel,andthedetailedprocedureofdesigninganintelligentsystembasedonthemodel.WeofferacasestudyofanintelligentChinesecalligraphygenerationsystemwhichwehavedeveloped.Basedonimplementationexperiencesofthecalligraphygenerationsystemaswellasafewothersystemsforsolvingreal-worldproblems,wesuggestagenericmethodologyforconstructingintelligentsystemsusingthesynthesisreasoningmodel.
