%X ？Thedatagatheringmannerofwirelesssensornetworks,inwhichdataisforwardedtowardsthesinknode,wouldcausethenodesnearthesinknodetotransmitmoredatathanthosefarfromit.Mostdatagatheringmechanismsnowdonotdowellinbalancingtheenergyconsumptionamongnodeswithdifferentdistancestothesink,thustheycanhardlyavoidtheproblemthatnodesnearthesinkconsumeenergymorequickly,whichmaycausethenetworkrupturefromthesinknode.ThispaperpresentsadatagatheringmechanismcalledPODA,whichgradestheoutputpowerofnodesaccordingtotheirdistancesfromthesinknode.PODAbalancesenergyconsumptionbysettingthenodesnearthesinkwithloweroutputpowerandthenodesfarfromthesinkwithhigheroutputpower.SimulationresultsshowthatthePODAmechanismcanachieveevenenergyconsumptionintheentirenetwork,improveenergyefficiencyandprolongthenetworklifetime.
