%X Focused on the definitions of dependency, the author illustrates that there are various views of dependency from the dependency theory of Tesni¨¨re to the modern cognitive linguistics. The followers of Tesni¨¨re only study dependency from the perspective of the relations between words, but Tesni¨¨re is to research the intrinsic nature of languages, so Tesni¨¨re¡¯ dependency theory is necessary to be further studied.
