	<span lang=\"EN-US\">A clean, simple, efficient synthesis of 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthenes
derivatives using ionic liquid 1-butyl, 3-me</span><span lang=\"EN-US\">- </span><span lang=\"EN-US\">thylimidazolium
perchlorate ([bmim] ClO<sub>4</sub>)<sub> </sub>has been developed. The method
provides several advantages such as simple work up, environmental friendliness
and excellent yields in short reaction time. The ionic liquid [bmim]</span><span lang=\"EN-US\"> </span><span lang=\"EN-US\">ClO<sub>4</sub> used was recovered and reused for three times.</span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><o:p></o:p></span>
