%X El estudio eval迆a las propiedades psicom谷tricas de la Escala Multidimensional de Apoyo Social de Zimet et al. (1988). Con este fin, se realiz車 una aplicaci車n piloto a 12 adultos mayores, la que mostr車 que era necesario realizar adaptaciones en el instrumento. Luego, se aplic車 el instrumento adaptado a 76 adultos mayores de la Regi車n Metropolitana, utilizando el programa SPSS para el an芍lisis estad赤stico, el cual mostr車 que el comportamiento de los 赤temes permit赤a aplicarla en su versi車n original. El an芍lisis factorial de tipo exploratorio dio como resultado un modelo de dos factores, el cual es apoyado por la rotaci車n oblicua y el an芍lisis factorial confirmatorio. El apoyo social percibido no tuvo diferencias significativas por sexo, pero s赤 entre grupos de edad The study evaluates the psychometric characteristics of the multidimensional social support scale of Zimet et al. (1988). With this purpose, a pilot application was carried out in twelve elders, showing that it was necessary to make some adaptations to the instrument. Then, the adapted instrument was applied in seventy-six elders from the Metropolitan Region, using the program SPSS for the statistical analysis. The results showed that the way the items behaved, allowed the application of the scale with the original items. The exploratory factorial analysis gave as a result a model of two factors supported by the oblique rotation and the confirmatory factorial analysis. The social support perceived did not have significant differences by sex, but it did among groups of age
