%X The Iron Gates under the microscope of a geosites research. Geo(morpho)logical issues and challenges. This paper proposes to see how a geosites research in the Iron Gates Natural Park can provide concrete and satisfactory results. The study analyses briefly the main geological and geomorphologic characteristics of the Iron Gates and it is trying to make a correlation with the term geosite, as it is established by the Swiss school of geography. After the collapse of the mining industry, tourism became the most important economic alternative in this region. Geology and geomorphology must be touristically well exploited and this is possible only by creating a project that analyses and develops the local geosites. This paper discusses also about the main challenges of such a project.
