%X Esta investigaci車n pretende conocer motivaciones y expectativas de egresados de la Escuela de Enfermer赤a de la Pontificia Universidad Cat車lica de Chile para participar en una Asociaci車n de Ex-alumnos (AEA). Estudio descriptivo, de corte transversal, en 97 egresados de las generaciones 1970-2000. El muestreo fue probabil赤stico aleatorio (intervalo de confianza 10%). Para la recolecci車n de datos se utiliz車 un cuestionario validado por expertos. Para el an芍lisis se utiliz車 SPSS 8.0. Como resultado se obtuvo que el 71,1% de los egresados refiere inter谷s por pertenecer en la AEA. Los motivos m芍s mencionados para participar son asociatividad (33,6%), posibilidad de perfeccionamiento (23,8%) y crecimiento de la profesi車n (16,8%). Entre los beneficios que esperan recibir destacaron inter谷s por perfeccionarse (43,4%) y asociatividad (30,2%). Del grupo de egresados que no desea participar, el 70,4% refiere falta de tiempo y el 14,8% alejamiento de la profesi車n. Se puede concluir que el mayor porcentaje de los egresados estar赤a motivado para participar en la AEA y la asociatividad y la posibilidad de perfeccionamiento son las principales motivaci車n y expectativa del grupo respectivamente. The purpose of this study was to identify motivations and expectations that alumni from the College of Nursing at the Pontificia Universidad Cat車lica de Chile have to participate in a University Graduate Association (AEA: Asociaci車n de Ex-Alumnos). A descriptive cross-sectional design was used with a probabilistic sample of 97 alumni who graduated between 1970 and 2000 (10% confidence interval). Questionnaires checked by experts were used to collect data. Data were analyzed using the SPSS software version 8.0. The results of the study showed that 71,1% of the former students are interested in being part of AEA. The principal motivations identified were partnership affiliation (33,6%), continuing education (23,8%) and nursing professional development (16,8%). The perceived potential benefits were continuing education (43,4%), and partnership affiliation (30,2%). The group that does not have interest in being part of EAE mentioned as reasons, lack of time (70,4%) and professional estrangement (14,8%). In conclusion, the majority of the alumni were motivated to participate in a EAE, being the partnership affiliation and continuing education, the main motivation and expectations for this group.
