%X Innumerables factores dificultan el diagn車stico y tratamiento precoz de la depresi車n. Esta investigaci車n tuvo como objetivo describir c車mo los portadores de depresi車n y sus familiares vivencian el proceso de b迆squeda de ayuda para el sufrimiento provocado por esta enfermedad. El abordaje de la investigaci車n fue la cualitativa y el m谷todo empleado la etnograf赤a. Fue desarrollado el proceso de observaci車n participante de 13 familias con un miembro afectado por la depresi車n. "En busca de soluci車n para el sufrimiento" es el tema cultural que emergi車 de las narrativas y retrata el proceso de enfrentamiento de la depresi車n por la familia. La depresi車n causa sufrimiento cabiendo a los profesionales de salud y a la propia sociedad la contribuci車n para el diagn車stico precoz de la enfermedad y su debido tratamiento. Several factors make difficult to have an early depression diagnosis. This research had the purpose to describe how the persons affected by depression and their families, experience the process of searching for help while suffering by this illness. It is an ethnographic study developed through participant observation with 13 families affected by depression. The search of a solution related to suffering, is the central theme that emerged from the narratives and retracts the coping process of the families. The depression causes suffering and the professional is responsible for the early diagnosis and treatment.
