Theoretical studies on catalytic hydrogenation of both compounds, in presence of aluminium chloride (AlCl3) catalyst, are carried out. The products of reactions are ethanol and propan-1-ol from oxirane and methyloxirane, respectively. According to the variations of chemical parameters throughout the processes, the mechanisms of both reactions have been proposed.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.4314/bcse.v26i3.13 %K Hydrogenation %K Oxirane %K Methyloxirane %K Aluminium chloride %K Propan-1-ol %K Ethanol %K HF %K MP2 %K DFT %K B3LYP %K lanl2dz basis set %U http://www.ajol.info/index.php/bcse/article/view/80284
