%X Conceitos da ¨¢rea de seguran a, mormente empregados sem cuidado e acriticamente, s o aqui submetidos ¨¤ reflex o. Centrado no adjetivo "multidimensional", descrevo a forma como este termo foi sendo introduzido no debate americano da seguran a sob o manto de uma "agenda de seguran a hemisf¨¦rica". Criticamos este intento buscando desconstruir aquele conceito, analisando brevemente as amea as como fen meno perceptivo e refletindo filosoficamente sobre a diferente natureza da "seguran a" e da "defesa". Concepts of the Security area, mainly used without care and criticism, are here submitted to reflection. Based on the adjective "multidimensional", I describe the form of how it has been introduced into the American debate of security under cover a "hemispheric security agenda". I criticize this attempt trying to deconstruct that concept analyzing briefly the threats like a perceptual phenomenon and reflecting philosophically on the different nature of "Security" and "Defense".
