The Volsunga saga is a heroic saga that describes the story of a family established by bravery acts throughout generations. It may be said that Sigurd, whose myth is also described in the Poetic Edda, is the most illustrious of their heroes. Amidst the fights for power and passionate love affairs, there are famous wizards and witches that constantly make use of incantations in order to sort out apparently insoluble situations. In the story, a mythical creature appears always in the most important occasions: the god Odin, the VolsungsĄ¯ ancestor. The present work aims to trace, analyse, and comment the excerpts of the Volsunga Saga which portray situations that allude either to magic or to Germanic myths. %K Myth %K Magic %K Scandinavian Saga. %U http://ppg.revistas.uema.br/index.php/brathair/article/viewFile/484/405
