In view of this context, this paper will investigate through a multiple-case study of companies in the same realm of activity - capital goods manufacturing - if there are similarities in regard to their workforce management practices. To develop the comparative analysis, this study relied on a bibliographical review of contemporary concepts relating to personnel management practices and employed questionnaires, interviews and document analysis to carry out the research. The panorama of the research results highlighted similarities and differences among the companies studied, encouraging the continuation of this research. %U http://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=81021138004
