%X We report on our efforts to support such changes in students¡¯ interest and personal connection with mathematics through exploring applications in digital signal processing (DSP), an engineering field devoted to study of ¡°signals¡± (primarily digital representations of speech, images, and video). We present and discuss a variety of multimedia laboratory activities that focus on digital image processing as a context for exploring a variety of mathematics concepts and present analysis and results indicating the benefits of this particular use of technology in the school mathematics classroom.
