%X Analyzing the work of French sociologist P. Nora, the author considers the ¡°memory sites¡±, which became widely known in foreign academic circles in late 1980s and in Russia from the early 2000s. The article defines ¡°memory site¡± as it used by P. Nora. Particularly, the sociologist¡¯s opinion that memory sites should be considered as a physical object, as well as topographic or symbolic image arouses interest.
