%X Hoy, y debido a sus repercusiones en los territorios, la cultura y los festivales culturales forman parte de las estrategias de desarrollo local y regional, y de las actuaciones de regeneraci車n urbana. Tales repercusiones pueden ser de car芍cter social, cultural, tur赤stico o econ車mico, ya que la cultura genera impactos en t谷rminos de producci車n, rentas y empleos. En este marco, el objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la contribuci車n econ車mica del Festival Internacional de Cine de Valdivia a la ciudad y regi車n donde se celebra. Para ello se utiliza la metodolog赤a de los Estudios de Impacto Econ車mico, basada en la definici車n y medici車n de tres tipos de efectos (directos, indirectos e inducidos). Los resultados muestran que el festival genera una repercusi車n signiicativa sobre la econom赤a de la zona, beneiciando especialmente al sector tur赤stico de la ciudad, y a los servicios a empresas. El trabajo pone tambi谷n de maniiesto la importancia que los espectadores dan a las repercusiones culturales del festival, que constituyen, en realidad, la esencia del mismo. Today, culture and cultural festivals are part of the strategies of local and regional development and urban regeneration actions as a result of the impact that these goods can generate on the territories. These repercussions could be social, cultural, touristic or economic, since cultural goods and cultural events generate impacts in terms of production, income and jobs. The aim of this paper is to analyze the economic contribution of the Valdivia International Film Festival to the city and region where it is held. The Economic Impact Study methodology is used for this purpose, based on the definition and valuation of three types of effects (direct, indirect and induced). The results show that thefestival generates a significant impact on the economy of the area, benefiting especially the tourism sector of the city and business services. The work also highlights the importance attached by the attendees to the cultural impacts of thefestival, which are, in fact, the essence of the event.
