%X The Casas Virgili Sectio (Tarragona, Spain) is described and macro (mollusc) and micro (foraminifera ) paleontological data are reported. Among the molluscs, of outstanding importance are the Pectinids represented by Pecten (Amussiopecten) baranensis and Chlamys (Mimachlamys) jackloweciana with a greater abundance of the latter in the mud-sand levels, together with the Gasteropod Turritella (Archimediella) turris. The planktonic foraminifera are extremely well represented. The presence of Globigerinoldes sicanus, Praeorbulina glomerosa and P. transitoria allowed the authors to attribute the section studied to the Langhian, representing the lowest Miocene observed to outcrop in the Province of Tarragona. Se describe la secci¨®n estratigr¨¢fica de Casas Virgili (Tarragona) aportando datos Macropaleontol¨®gicos (Moluscos) y Micropaleontol¨®gicos (Foramin¨ªferos). Entre los Moluscos destacan los Pect¨ªnidos representados por Pecten (Amussiopecten) baranensisy Chlamys (Mimachlamys) jackloweciana con una mayor abundancia del segundo en los niveles limo-arenosos, as¨ª como el Gaster¨®podo Turritella (Archimediella) turris. Los Foramin¨ªferos planct¨®nicos est¨¢n muy bien representados. La presencia de Globigerinoides sicanus, Praeorbulina glomerosa y P. transitoria permiten atribuir la secci¨®n estudiada al Langhiense , suponiendo el Mioceno m¨¢s inferior que aflora en la provincia de Tarragona.
