%X O presente artigo examina os modos pelos quais os migrantes portugueses estabelecem elos de liga  o ao seu pa¨ªs de origem. Como ¨¦ que eles reconstroem e reinventam elementos da sua ¡°cultura de origem¡± (narrada) em -Hamburgo e noutras regi es da Alemanha do Norte? Baseadas em material etnogr¨¢fico e num inqu¨¦rito, as conclus es sugerem que, a par do decl¨ªnio das compet¨ºncias lingu¨ªsticas e da participa  o nas associa  es portuguesas, muitos dos elementos que moldaram as representa  es de cultura portuguesa dos migrantes est o a perder importancia, ao mesmo tempo que a importancia do futebol enquanto elemento de identifica  o, bem de consumo e pr¨¢tica recreativa parece manter-se est¨¢vel ou estar at¨¦ a aumentar. O futebol proporciona um espa o privilegiado para performances de perten a e cultura (popular) portuguesas, constituindo ao mesmo tempo um espa o social para o conv¨ªvio intercultural. O mesmo se pode dizer a prop¨®sito dos estabelecimentos gastron¨®micos portugueses, que favorecem o desenvolvimento do sincretismo culin¨¢rio e lingu¨ªstico. The paper examines the ways in which Portuguese migrants connect to their country of origin. How do they re-construct or re-invent elements of their (narrated) ¡°culture of origin¡± in -Hamburg and in other parts of Northern Germany? Based on ethnographic material and a quantitative survey, the findings suggest that alongside the decrease in language skills and participation in Portuguese associations, many elements which had shaped migrant constructions of Portuguese culture in diasporic settings, are losing importance while football identification, consumption and leisure activity seemingly remain important or are even increasing. Football provides a privileged space for performances of Portuguese belonging and (popular) culture while at the same time being a platform for intercultural encounters. The latter also holds true for Portuguese gastronomic establishments, which give space to the development of culinary and linguistically syncretism.
