%X O objetivo deste trabalho ¨¦ analisar os efeitos da utiliza  o das leis de incentivo fi scal em favor dos investimentos na ¨¢rea da cultura. Para compreendermos os reflexos dessa forma de financiamento sobre o processo de produ  o dos espet¨¢culos nos pautaremos na realidade vivenciada pelo Theatro Municipal de S o Paulo. Observamos que esse teatro possui uma forma de gerir a cultura que est¨¢ cada vez mais infl uenciada por princ¨ªpios da economia de mercado. Apesar de o Estado regular as pol¨ªticas culturais, esse mecanismo se efetiva por meio do apoio da iniciativa privada, que se d¨¢ majoritariamente atrav¨¦s das leis de incentivo fi scal. Portanto, buscaremos compreender as consequ¨ºncias dessa pol¨ªtica de fi nanciamento para o desenvolvimento das atividades culturais. Palavras-chave: Pol¨ªticas culturais. Leis de incentivo. Produ  o cultural. This article aims to analyze the effects of tax incentive laws in favor of investments in culture. In order to understand the effects of this fi nancial support to the spectacle productions, we will analyze the experiences of the Municipal Theater of S o Paulo. We note this theater has been managing their cultural activities guided more and more by market economy principles. Despite the regulation of the cultural policies by the State, this mechanism comes through by the support of the private sector, majorly due to tax incentive laws., We then try to understand the consequences of this funding policy for the development of cultural activities.
