%X Desde hace tiempo el agua es utilizada como materia prima para la cura de males y enfermedades y la cura a trav¨¦s del agua fue una de las primeras motivaciones tur¨ªsticas. El turismo de salud surge actualmente como alternativa al turismo convencional, en un momento de cambio en los valores de la sociedad, que pasa a entender salud como un concepto m¨¢s amplio que la ausencia de enfermedad y si como sin¨®nimo de calidad de vida. La metodolog¨ªa utilizada buscando analizar las formas de utilizaci¨®n terap¨¦utica del agua como motivaci¨®n tur¨ªstica, adem¨¢s de una investigaci¨®n exploratoria, bibliogr¨¢fica y documental, consisti¨® un an¨¢lisis comparativo te¨®rico-descriptivo con la poblaci¨®n de 33 establecimientos balnearios y centros de talasoterapia de Galicia (Espana) y Santa Catarina (Brasil). Los principales resultados fueron que los centros gallegos est¨¢n m¨¢s orientados a la utilizaci¨®n terap¨¦utica de las aguas, ofreciendo t¨¦cnicas espec¨ªficas (antiguas y modernas) para enfermedades concretas de acuerdo con las indicaciones terap¨¦uticas de sus aguas. Los centros catarinenses, tienen una utilizaci¨®n menos terap¨¦utica y m¨¢s l¨²dica de sus aguas, m¨¢s relacionada al ocio, a la belleza y al relax. Este enfoque es m¨¢s pr¨®ximo a las nuevas orientaciones del turismo de salud, pero no aprovecha todo el potencial de su principal recurso, el agua. For a long time water has been used as raw material for the evils cure and diseases and the water was one of the first tourist motivations. At the moment the health tourism arises like an alternative to the conventional tourism, in a period of changes of values of the society, that understand health like a concept ampler than the absence of disease, and to the health like synonymous of quality of life. To analise the forms of therapeutic use of the water like touristic motivation, besides an exploratory investigation, bibliographical and documentary, were done a theoretical-descriptive comparative analysis with the population of 33 bath establishments and centers of talasotherapy of in Galicia (Spain) and Santa Catarina (Brazil). The main results were that the centers of Galicia are much more oriented to the therapeutic use of waters, offering technical specific (old and modern) for concrete diseases in agreement with the therapeutic indications of their waters. Already the catarinenses centers, have a less therapeutic and more playful use of their waters, in a context where the leisure, beauty and the relax are the new and essential elements of health tourism, but do not use all the potential of the resource, the water.
