%X A partir del concepto de paisaje, tan importante y debatido en la geograf¨ªa, y del concepto de medioambiente, uno de los m¨¢s discutidos en el mundo actualmente, se presentan aqu¨ª los impactos que el turismo produce sobre los mismos. Esa actividad que ha cambiado la idea de placer, recreaci¨®n y ocio se convirti¨® en una de las mayores fuentes de la econom¨ªa global transformando el espacio f¨ªsico y el medio social. Se analiza el turismo de segundas residencias (tambi¨¦n conocido como veraneo). Intensamente presente en el nordeste de Brasil, ese tipo de turismo ha llamado la atenci¨®n de los investigadores por su poder de "echar ra¨ªces", de poseer y consumir los lugares donde se inserta, modificando y muchas veces degradando el medio y el paisaje. Dicho an¨¢lisis es parte de la tesis de maestr¨ªa de la presente autora, basada en el estudio de los cambios ocurridos en las tres playas de mayor demanda de segundas residencias en el litoral sur del Estado da Para¨ªba: Jacum , Carapibus y Tabatinga. El an¨¢lisis se centra en un relevamiento bibliogr¨¢fico y de campo, sumado al an¨¢lisis de fotograf¨ªas a¨¦reas e im¨¢genes satelitales. This work presents the impacts the tourism activity brings to landscapes, whose concept has been thoroughly debated in Geography, and environment, which has gained world wide relevance lately. This activity, which has altered the concepts of leisure and indulgence and has become one of the running forces of global economy, has also modified physical and social environments. By narrowing the array of existing tourism activities, the work analyses the so-called second residence tourism. Heavily present in the northeast coast of Brazil, this kind of activity has gained the attention of researchers for its settling, modifying and degrading nature. Such analysis has been extracted from the Master thesis of the author and is based on the conclusions drawn from the aforementioned research project which studied the physical and environmental alterations triggered by second residence tourism in the southern coast of Paraiba, Brazil, especially in Jacuma, Carapibus and Tabatinga. This analysis is supported by literature and field research, as well as aerial photographies and satellite images of the described locations.
