%X Este art赤culo tiene como hilo conductor el estudio de la relaci車n entre los eventos deportivos y el turismo. El objetivo fue analizar las posibilidades de desarrollo tur赤stico de la ciudad de Ilh谷us (Bahia) a trav谷s del turismo de eventos deportivos para verificar el nivel de satisfacci車n, caracterizar las visitas de los atletas, conocer la percepci車n de los actores sociales y apuntar las potencialidades y los l赤mites para la promoci車n adecuada de los eventos deportivos en la ciudad. Se realiz車 una investigaci車n exploratoria con abordaje cualitativo y cuantitativo. La muestra fue constituida por gestores de las empresas privadas que promueven eventos deportivos, secretarios de Deporte y Turismo, atletas y participantes de los eventos. Los eventos estudiados fueron: el XXV Concurso de Pesca, la 12a Traves赤a Ilh谷us - Pontal, y la I Carrera Tem芍tica Costa do Cacau. Los datos demostraron que no existe preocupaci車n por parte del poder local para establecer una relaci車n entre el deporte y el turismo, aprovechando los eventos deportivos para desarrollar el mismo. Los estudios destacaron la falta de una planificaci車n articulada entre las secretar赤as de Deporte y Turismo, y la inexistencia de un calendario oficial que difunda los eventos deportivos. No obstante, se comprob車 la viabilidad econ車mica y social de los eventos, en relaci車n a los efectos multiplicadores del turismo, como el aumento en el consumo de bienes y servicios; adem芍s de la posibilidad de minimizar los efectos de la estacionalidad tur赤stica. The thread of this paper is the study of the relationship between sports and tourism. The objective was to analyze the possibilities of tourism development in the city of Ilh谷us, Bahia, through sport tourism in order to verify the level of satisfaction characterizing the visits of the athletes, to know the perception of the stakeholders about the paper of the sport tourism in the promotion of the local development, and to point the potentialities and limits for a proper promotion of sporting events. It was performed an exploratory research with a quali-quantitative approach and its theoretical framework was constructed based on a literature review of secondary sources such as books, thesis, dissertations and articles. The sample consisted of the managers of private companies that promote sport events, the Sport an Tourism Secretaries and the athletes and event participants. The events studied were: the XXV Match of Fishes, 12a Passage Ilh谷us - Pontal and the I Thematic Race Coast of the Cacao. The data showed there was no concern of the local power to establ
