Sculpter sa propre statue, pour reprendre un vieux pr¨¦cepte plotinien, n¡¯est-ce pas l¡¯expression d¡¯un d¨¦sir voire d¡¯une exigence du sujet, celle de se r¨¦approprier le sens et la valeur de sa propre existence ? Pour sortir de la crise que cr¨¦e l¡¯antagonisme entre ¨¦valuation ext¨¦rieure et sentiment personnel, l¡¯auto-¨¦valuation appara t comme l¡¯¨¦laboration d¡¯une ¨¦thique personnelle qui, sans r¨¦cuser l¡¯id¨¦e de norme, insiste sur son aspect individuel et red¨¦finit la valeur comme moteur de d¨¦passement de soi plut t que comme principe r¨¦aliste. An individual is more and more frequently evaluated, more and more snapshots freeze and reduce him or her to incomplete images. One can then believe it is necessary to free oneself from the almost disciplinary power of external judgments, and to accept only one's own critical outlook on oneself. Sculpting one's own statue, to take up Plotin's old phrase, conveys the desires and expectations of the self striving to reclaim the meaning and value of his or her own existence. To solve the crisis created by the antagonism between external evaluation and personal impression, self-evaluation could be understood as a personal ethics in the making, which, without excluding normative statements, would use an individual gauge and redefine value as a drive to go beyond oneself, rather than as a realistic principle. %U http://www.espacestemps.net/document1681.html
