%X This article¡äs main objective is to prove how two basic senses-sight and sound-are integral elements in the process of observation and interpretation as ways to achieve knowledge in Edgardo Rodr¨ªguez Juli¨¢¡äs narratives focusing on the 18th century. Through this process, the critic intends to prove the archeological and foundational function of Rodr¨ªguez Juli¨¢¡äs narrative, which is defined by the search for the origins of nationality and protonational characteristics.
