Most are organized primarily as bibliographies, reflecting the traditionally source-laden methodology of such courses; A Guide to Library Research in Music and Introduction to Research in Music also treat student writing. Pedagogical texts for music research should emphasize search skills over bibliographic control of numerous reference tools.
