%0 Journal Article %T El campus virtual como recurso ¨²til: un estudio de estudiantes universitarios de carreras human¨ªsticas [The virtual learning platform as a useful resource: a research among university students of humanistic degrees] %A Carmen Luj¨¢n-Garc¨ªa %J Ensayos : Revista de la Facultad de Educacion de Albacete %D 2012 %I Facultad de Educaci¨®n de Albacete %X Resumen: Este art¨ªculo, realizado con estudiantes universitarios de dos carreras human¨ªsticas en la Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria: Filolog¨ªa Inglesa y Geograf¨ªa, investiga el grado de familiaridad y utilidad del campus virtual en el mundo acad¨¦mico. Los resultados demuestran que es una herramienta ¨²til, aunque percibida m¨¢s como un apoyo a la ense anza presencial que con validez en s¨ª misma. La variable g¨¦nero revela que los hombres valoran mejor esta herramienta, mientras que los informantes de geograf¨ªa perciben m¨¢s positivamente el campus virtual que los de filolog¨ªa inglesa. Abstract:This paper presents the results of a study carried out among undergraduate students of English Language and Literature and Geography at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to investigate their degree of familiarity with and the general usefulness of the virtual learning platform in Higher Education. The results show that whilst this is indeed a useful tool, it is used to best effect when seen as a supportive resource for regular education. The variation in responses from men and women reveals that men are more familiar with and value this tool more highly than women.
