Qualitativeresearch was done and the data gathering performed through semi-structured interviews. Tennationally recognized stakeholders were interviewed either for the conceiving of public policiesregarding electronic government as well for the implementation and inspection of relatedprojects. The study demonstrates that digital certification is straightly connected withinformation security. Indirectly, the security that digital certification provides is the majorcondition for the development of the electronic government, once it can provide the bases for theimprovement of internal process in Public Administration and the increase of public services andbetter quality for the interface between the State and the citizen. %K digital certification %K electronic government %K security information %U http://www.jistem.fea.usp.br/index.php/jistem/article/view/10.4301%252FS1807-17752011000200004/260
