%0 Journal Article %T Vaka-nuvis Mehmed Rasid Efendi, His Life, Works anf Literary Personality %A Halit B£¿LTEK£¿N %J Journal of International Social Research %D 2010 %I Journal of International Social Research %X Mehmed Ra id Efendi, one of the foremost poets and historians of XVIII. century, was born in stanbul. His date of birth is unknown. Being from the period¡¯s most important scholars Malatyal Mustafa Efendi was his father. He took the ¡°m¨¹laz m¡± (= novice) title from Ebu Sa¡¯id-zade Feyzu¡¯llah Efendi in 1104/1692-3. In 1116/1704-5 he was appointed to the ¡°m¨¹derrislik¡± (=professorship) of the Hac lyas Madrasah. In 1126/1714 he was given the official duty of ¡°vak¡¯a-n¨¹vislik¡± (=chroniclership¡±). In 1135/1723 he become the Haleb¡¯s Cadi. In 1140/1728 he was settled to the ¡°beylerbeyilik¡± (=governorship) of Rumeli province and then sent to Iran as an ambassador. In 1141/1729 he was the Qadi of stanbul until his dismissal at the date of 1143/1730. After the Patrona Halil Rebellion, he was banished to Istankoy, Bursa and Limni in turn. Later on, he returned to Istanbul and appointed as the ¡°kazasker¡± (=high officer in the hierarcy of the Moslem Judiciary) of Anatolia. He passed away on 18 Safer 1148/10 July 1735.
