%X Encouraged to explore and implement technology, many librarians create screencasts to supplement library instruction. Without a structured creation process, a number of communications issues can result, including: duplication of topics; absence of library branding; and lack of centralized availability to all screencasts. To create a more cohesive online presence, establishing a communications plan is recommended. This article is an account of the University Libraries within the State University of New York at Buffalo¡¯s early experiences with screencasting, assessment of screencasting services, and the consequent development of a coherent communications plan and best practices document regarding video and screencast production.
