Three generations of SiC fibers have been developed over the past thirty years. In this article, the preparing methods, compositions, microstructures and performances of three-generation fibers are reviewed. Furthermore, the relationships are discussed between microstructure and the main properties of the fibers, such as high-temperature-resistance, modulus and creep resistance. And, as a summary, some improving methods for the properties of SiC fibers derived from precursor are summarized. %K SiC fibers %K polymer-derived method %K high-temperature-resistant ceramic fibers %U http://www.jim.org.cn/fileup/PDF/20090603.pdf
