The faster the drug into solution, the quicker the absorption and onset of clinical effect. Some drugs are absorbed from the mouth, pharynx and esophagus as the saliva passes down into the stomach. In such cases, bioavailability of drug is significantly greater than those observed from conventional tablet dosage form. Administration of conventional tablets of flurbiprofen has been reported to exhibit fluctuations in the plasma drug levels resulting in either manifestation of side effects or reduction in drug concentration at the receptor site. In the present study orodispersible tablets of flurbiprofen were prepared using various superdisintegrants such as croscarmelose sodium, sodium starch glycolate, crospovidone and camphor (as subliming agent) in different ratio and subjected for evaluation. Results revealed that the tablet of all formulations have acceptable physical parameters. The In-vitro release of all the formulations was subjected to kinetic data analysis and found that the krosmeyers-peppas model is the best fitted model to the release profile of all the formulations except F5, F7 and F15 which followed higuchi matrix model. Results of In-vitro disintegration time study indicated that the tablet disintegrate rapidly in the simulated fluid (pH 6.8 saliva buffer). SEM study of different formulations showed only fractured surface for the tablets prepared by direct compression method where as, it showed formation of pores for the tablets prepared by sublimation method Thus conclusion can be made that the stable orodispersible tablets of flurbiprofen can be developed for the rapid release of flurbiprofen. %K Orodispersible tablets %K flurbiprofen %K Superdisintegrants %K Camphor %K Sublimation %K Direct compression %K NSAIDs %U http://jgpt.co.in/jgpt/index.php/jgptjournal/article/view/93
