%X During his thirty-five-years career, Kingsley Amis amassed a wide-ranging body of work that rightly earned him a place among the most entertaining of contemporary writers. In four decades Amis authored twenty two novels, six volumes of poetry, two collections of short stories, thirteen volumes of non-fiction, one biography, and hundreds of essays and reviews. Not all of Amis¡¯s works have met with critics¡¯ praise, nor do they deserve it. But it is obvious from these and other assessments that Amis earned himself a constant place among the most distinguished British writers of the twentieth century.
