(?EV-KOR) %X The study presents determination of surface water quality in Trabzon City. Thus, hydrochemical propertiesand water quality parameters were determined in samples from Akhisar, Foldere, skefiye, Kalanima, Sera,Be irli, De irmendere, kisu, Yomra, Yanbolu, Karadere, Manahoz, Solakl and Baltac Rivers. Thetemperature, electrical conductivity and pH values of water were measured insitu. The major ions analysiscarried out with the Fotometer and the concentrations of elements were determined using ICP-OES. Thesurface waters in the studied area are classified as water with carbonate and sulphate and Ca+Mg isdominated from Na+K in these surface waters. pH and electrical conductivity values of the waters arebetween 6.9-9.9, and 28-450 ¦ĚS/cm respectively. Thus, total dissolved solid and oxygen values of the watersare between 21 and 319 mg/L, and 8.8-16.9 mg/L respectively. The values of NO2- and NO3- are generallylow. Thus, waters of Baltac and Fol Streams represent maximum values with 0.1 mg/L NO2-. However,waters of Sera Stream represent maximum values with 4.7 mg/L of NO3-. The maximum value of NH4+was measured in Yanbolu Stream as 15.5 mg/L, and the maximum value of PO43- was measured inKalanima Stream with 5.1 mg/L. The maximum value of KOI with 150 mg/L was measured in waters ofKalanima Stream. According to the Water Pollution Control Regulation of the Turkish Republic, Criteriafor Inland Surface Water Classification, all surface waters in the studied area are classified high quality waterconsidering to the most of parameters. However, considering to the values of Cu, Pb, Mn, NO2-, NH4+,PO43-, CN- and KOI, the waters are classified as slightly polluted, polluted and highly polluted.
