%X La Universidad de Ciencias M谷dicas cubana en el contexto actual enfrenta el desaf赤o de cumplir su misi車n social y lograr la formaci車n con pertinencia y calidad del profesional de la salud que la sociedad necesita. Con el objetivo de identificar aspectos favorecedores y retos que enfrenta esta universidad para cumplir su misi車n, se presenta una revisi車n bibliogr芍fica y documental de los principales documentos rectores del proceso formativo. Su an芍lisis facilit車 el cumplimiento del objetivo y adem芍s se constat車 que la misi車n est芍 bien definida y orientada a las nuevas condiciones sociales del contexto actual, favorecida por la voluntad pol赤tica del Estado, adem芍s de enfrentar retos importantes para elevar la calidad del proceso formativo. The Cuban university of medical sciences faces at present the challenge of fulfilling its social mission and achieve at the same time the quality formation of the health professional that the society needs. With the objective of identifying the encouraging elements and the challenges of this university, a literature and documentary review of the main ruling documents of the formative process was presented. The analysis facilitated the attainment of the objective. Additionally, it was verified that the mission is well defined and oriented toward the new social conditions of the present context, supported by the political willingness of the state, and that the university is facing significant challenges to raise the quality of the formative process.
