Spiral CT angiography (CTA) is a highly sensitive, specific, fast and noninvasive imaging method for diagnosis and evaluation of congenital diseases of the great vessels of the heart."nPatients and Methods: We have carried out this study to compare multi-slice CT (4 row detector) with surgical results in the diagnosis of CHD. We calculated the accuracy of CTA in the diagnosis of CHD in 26 patients with 10 anomalies including hypoplastic central PA, hypoplastic peripheral PA, hypoplastic AO arch, right sided AO arch, overriding aorta, coarctation of the aorta, PDA, TGA, Taussing-Bing anomaly, main aorto-pulmonary collateral A, referred to Tooska Medical Imaging Center. The CTA results were compared with the surgical results. Results of conventional angiography were also included in this study."nResults: Eleven patients were male. The mean of participants' age was (4.8) years, with the minimum of one year and the maximum of 16 years. Overally, the test had a sensitivity (se) of 92.86%, specificity (sp) of 100%, and negative predictive value (NPV) of 92.3%. "nConclusion: These results in general show that the sensitivity and specificity of CTA in determination of congenital diseases of great vessels of the heart are considerable and suggest that CTA has an acceptable accuracy in this diagnosis. Also, considering PPV and NPV of this limited study, we can use it as a complementary method for conventional angiography and echocardiography in these patients. These results were compatible with further investigations. %K keyword %U http://journals.tums.ac.ir/PdfMed.aspx?pdf_med=/upload_files/pdf/15934.pdf&manuscript_id=15934
