Mohammadifard %J Iranian Journal of Radiology %D 2007 %I Tehran University of Medical Sciences %X Introduction: Embolism of the femoral artery by an echinococcus cyst is extremely rare and is due to rup-ture of an intracardiac hydatid cyst. Case Presentation: We report the case of 14 years old boy, admitted to our clinic with the diagnosis of arte-rial occlusion of the right lower extremity. Preopera-tive angiography revealed an ileofemoral embolic oc-clusion. During the surgical operation, multiple hy-datid cyst components causing femoral artery occlu-sion were found and excised. Conclusion: This case emphasizes that, in endemic countries, primary vascular echinococcosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of arterial oc-clusions. %U http://journals.tums.ac.ir/PdfMed.aspx?pdf_med=/upload_files/pdf/3140.pdf&manuscript_id=3140
