%0 Journal Article %T The relationship between anxiety level and health, social and demographical factors in the students of a newly established university in Eastern Anatolia %A S¨¹leyman Erhan Deveci %A Ay£¿e £¿almaz %A Yasemin A£¿£¿k %J Dicle Medical Journal %D 2012 %I Dicle University Medical School %X Objectives: This study is carried out to determine possibleanxiety levels and related factors in Tunceli Universitystudents.Materials and methods: Totally 604 students receivingeducation from Tunceli University included. Field work ofthe study is done in May, 2010. A questionnaire includinga group of questions about socio-demographical features,health, social and demographical factors, and about continuousanxiety that are thought to be related to anxiety ismade under direct supervision to the students.Results: 52.2% of the students are men and 47.8 %are women, and the average age of them is 21.38¡À3.59years. The students¡¯ average point of state anxiety inventoryis found to be 43.37¡À10.46 and continuous anxietyinventory 45.17¡À8.79. According to our results if the studentsparent¡¯s monthly income is less, started to study inthe department of the university unwillingly, had shelteringproblems at the beginning of the university, expressedthat they had chronic diseases, evaluated their healthconditions as bad, feel ambiguous or desperate aboutfinding a job after graduation and described their charactersas introverted had higher anxiety scores (p<0.05).There is no relationship determined between age, familystructure, mother and/or father¡¯s living condition, andparent education and state - continuous anxiety (p>0.05).Conclusion: Continuous anxiety level of the universitystudents was found at a significant level and affected byseveral variables.
