%X El objetivo de este art赤culo es comprobar las coincidencias que existen entre las medidas y discursos de los pol赤ticos en materia migratoria y la opini車n que la sociedad espanola tiene sobre el fen車meno. Para ello, se han utilizado diferentes estrategias metodol車gicas. En primer lugar, se ha realizado un recorrido por las principales decisiones tomadas tanto por el Partido Socialista como por el Partido Popular en sus anos de gobierno. De igual modo, se han analizado, utilizando la teor赤a de la Agenda Setting, tanto las propuestas que ambos partidos recogen en sus programas electorales, como las manifestaciones p迆blicas acopiadas en los diarios El Pa赤s y El Mundo. En segundo lugar, para conocer la opini車n que tienen los espanoles sobre la inmigraci車n se ha construido el 赤ndice de sentimiento antiinmigrante. Los resultados muestran que existe correlaci車n entre las decisiones y discursos pol赤ticos y la opini車n p迆blica espanola: por un lado, el grueso de las medidas y manifestaciones p迆blicas de los pol赤ticos se centran en el control fronterizo y los procesos de regulaci車n. Por otro lado, las variables que explican el incremento del sentimiento antiinmigrante de la poblaci車n espanola son: la amenaza -poblacional e identitaria?, competencia por los recursos y decisiones pol赤ticas en el proceso de integraci車n -regularizaci車n?. The aim of this paper is to examine the overlap that exists between the measures and political discourse on migration and the view that Spanish society has of the phenomenon. To do so, different methodological strategies were used. First, an exploration was conducted of the major decisions taken by both the Socialist Party and the Popular Party during their years in office. Proposals that both parties included in their manifestos and public demonstrations as listed in the newspapers El Pa赤s and El Mundo were analyzed using the theory of agenda setting. Second, an index of anti-immigrant sentiment was constructed to find out the opinions the Spanish hold on immigration. The results show a correlation between political decisions and speeches and the opinions of the Spanish public. Most actions and public statements of politicians focus on border control and regulatory processes. The variables that explain the increased anti-immigrant sentiment of the Spanish population are threat to both population and identity, competition for resources, and political decisions during the process of integration (regularization).
