Bronchoscopy can be performed as a diagnostic or a treatment procedure. It is a useful method of evaluation of airways, sampling of specimens for diagnosis and also an invasive procedure where it can be performed in a near-patient settings. Bronchoscopy which is performed to critical care patients is a special and an important diagnostic and invasive procedure with the technique, indications, mechanical ventilation, risks and advantages.
