On one handIndia has a long list of multi millionaires on another a majorportion of the country¡¯s population is fighting for the basicrequirements of survival.Being a country with such a large and diversified population itsvery tough for the government to look after the basicrequirements of the people of the nation. Thus the roles of nongovernmentorganizations become very important.The following paper deals with the initiative taken byMATREE federation, in Tonk District of Rajasthan ineradicating poverty in the region through women initiative.
