%X In today¡¯s world, Component Based development isan active research area for more than a decade in softwareengineering. As they provide automated or semi-automatedsupport for the various processes and the methods. There are threemain approaches in Software Engineering world such asStructured, Object-oriented and Component-based approach. Thelast Component-based approach introduces more benefits to thisworld in terms of reusability, flexibility and maintainability. Thispaper basically provides the background of various softwareengineering approaches and compares the Component baseddevelopment to the object oriented development approach and tothe various other traditional approaches.
