Sharma and Sardul Singh Sandhu %J Current Trends in Biotechnology and Chemical Research %D 2012 %I M.M.University Mullana, Ambala %X The present study reports a novel spectrophotometric method to estimate tannase activity. annase hydrolyse tannic acid to gallic acid and glucose. The reported method is based on the chemistry of chromogen formation by gallic acid and potassium iodate. The chromogen formation is recorded at 525nm. This method offers an advantage over other reported colorimetric assays as it selectively estimate gallic acid and excludes the interference of tannic acid.
