To evaluate the concentration of Cr3+ and Cr6+ in ambient air quality of the Shiraz, west southern city of Iran, suspended particulate matter was collected by a high-volume air sampler. Determination of the concentration of chromium was carried out by UV¨CVis spectrophotometer after acid digestion. Maximum concentration of total Cr was 30 ng.m-3 in October, which was in permissible limit according to DOE (Department of Environment of Iran) limit threshold. Finally new and simple method to determine the Cr concentration has been found and recommended due to sensitively and accuracy.
