%X The article focuses on the transformation of visual image & narrative sense of Zaryadye district in Moscow from the late XIX-th century till nowadays. Visual and verbal sources such as fiction and non-fiction literature, photo and video materials, as well as former residents¡¯ oral memories are examined. The author reveals interconnections between visual images and cultural meanings of the place.
